A dingo as shark hunter |
On Fakarava, a South Seas island in the Tuamotu archipelago, the wild-living dingo "Sharkie" apparently has fun scaring sharks. The photographer and veterinarian Roland Seitre assumes that "he jumps into the sea not because he is hungry – he is too well fed for that – but just for the spirit of adventure". And this even though his victim, the blacktip reef shark (Carcharhinus melanopterus), is not harmless but considered to be irritable and aggressive.
